Biography

Engineering Manager at The Knot Worldwide

Hi, I’m Dani Heredia, a Computer Engineer working as an Engineering Manager striving to make a positive impact on others and the digital world, always driven by passion and the pursuit of adventure! 🙂

Ex-football player in Spain, since childhood, this sport has taught me sacrifice, humility, discipline, teamwork, leadership, persistence, and the ability to handle both victory and, most importantly, defeat.

Constantly traveling and working for international companies from France and the U.S., as well as living in countries like the U.S., Portugal, and Switzerland for extended periods, has allowed me to surround myself with very diverse people. This has enhanced my adaptability, empathy, curiosity, autonomy, and tolerance. I love learning, exploring, and embracing diversity, so I try to learn from every detail.

Today, I’m fortunate to apply all these values in my day-to-day work as an Engineering Manager. I’m passionate about building connections with others, learning from them, and contributing everything I can to help and support others.

Career

Most of my professional career has been linked to Marketplace and E-commerce. During the first four years of my career, I worked as a Software Engineer and Systems Administrator. After this period, while aiming to improve my English, I had the opportunity to start leading my first engineering team, developing my leadership, engineering, and management skills up until today.

I currently work as an Engineering Manager for The Knot Worldwide, playing a key role in the registry area for our clients who want to organize their events from various parts of the world. I’ve been part of large companies and international projects such as ManoMano and the French group VeePee, as well as local mid-sized companies like Devcenter (Convotis Group) and Webpositer.

Management

I would describe my leadership style as that of a servant leader. I enjoy being an enabler for my teams, helping them achieve their goals and, in turn, obtaining results for the overall business. I strive to be a conciliator, fostering teamwork and trust so we can all work toward a common goal in an environment where everyone contributes. I like to feel that people want to work with me, not just because “we have to.”

I appreciate receiving feedback to improve every day, and I prefer it to be clear, no matter how tough it might be. I would rather receive feedback, process it quickly, and use it positively.

I enjoy setting and having goals to know the direction we’re headed, being transparent and honest with my teams so that we can achieve what we set out to do together.

I always try to be part of meaningful projects or ones with a big impact—my driving force is the feeling of progress.

My blog is probably a reflection of my management style.
